Not in Our Nature

posted by admin in General

Perhaps one day we will learn to not mess around with nature. We have a long track record of tampering with the natural order of things and reaping the terrible rewards.

A good example of this is BSE. Mad Cow Disease came about because of feeding meat to animals that are naturally vegetarian. This was a pretty dumb thing to do and you would think that it was so obviously wrong that it never would have happened. So why did it? Well, that is very easy to answer. It saved money. If you dig around at any situation in the world of politics, farming or businesses for long enough you will usually find that money is at the heart of it.

What is obviously wrong to ordinary people is not so to those in positions of power. Money is a great corruptor. I am not an authority on Genetically Modified crops, but I will bet you anything that they are very ‘cost effective’ compared to traditional methods.

Feeling a Bit Fruity

Does fruit have sex with other fruit?

What a very strange man, to think that his children’s sweet wrappers were pornographic. In the man’s defence though, what a very strange packaging to put on a confectionary. I wonder why no-one else had noticed it before this man did?

I am not too sure whether or not the fruits are locked in a series of passionate embraces on the wrappers but they do look rather suspicious…

Perhaps it would answer a lot of our questions if we knew just exactly who it was that had designed the controversial sweet wrappers. It could all be perfectly innocent or maybe the artist has got some bizarre fruit fetish that he wants to share with the world of candy eaters. There is always the horrible possibility that he is not the only ‘fruit pervert’ to be in a position of power…

There are no doubt a lot of concerned parents who will now be checking sweet wrappers in shops before buying them for their children.

Whos’ Round is it?

It is a very sad state of affairs when we have to change what we drink from just because of a few people who like to ‘glass’ other drinkers.

Obviously it is understandable that pressure is on pubs to switch to using plastic beer containers but what is the world coming to? Due to it becoming increasingly popular for thugs to use their beer glasses as weapons, ordinary drinkers will end up having their beer from plastic beakers.

It follows the principle of charging 20p (or sometimes more) to use a public toilet because a small amount of people are vandals.

If it reduces the violence in pubs and clubs then it has got to be a good move but at the same time; how far do we have to keep backing away before we stop? There are other things that could be done to lessen the trouble in our watering holes such as not encouraging binge drinking. This would punish the few that need to be punished without affecting responsible drinkers.
