It’s a shame, I was a bit too young to fully appreciate the Six Million Dollar Man while it was on TV. I saw re-runs, but I feel sad to admit that I wasn’t around when it affected culture in the here-and-now. Back then it was all about the Man, not X Factor and Simon Cowells big square head!

Looking at this forum post makes it even worse! It’s almost a tragedy!

So it begs the question–haven’t we waited long enough without a suitable replacement for the main Man? Or maybe they could bring back the original in a new, modernized way–give something for all the kids growing up right now to love as much as those people who grew up watching Steve Austin himself.

But that’s a dream, sadly, is it not? Because the Six Million Dollar Man can’t really compete with computer games these days, can it? In modern computer games you don’t have to just sit and watch Steve Austin do his thing, you can do it as if you were him!

But maybe this isn’t the end for the Man–

According to certain news sources, there is speculation—starting in the mid 1990s—that the Man might get his very own film; and why not? The Bionic Woman, no relation, made it, so why not the Main Man?

I have a funny feeling, what with all the remakes coming out in the last few years, that it won’t be long before we see Steve Austin up there on the big screen. I just hope Jim Carrey won’t be playing the part as some people have said might be the case—come on people, this is Steve Austin we’re talking about. We need a real man, not the US equivalent of Mr. Bean!
